TRACKING: Pleasant start to Fall

Remaining Ad Time Ad - 00:00

Happy Fall! The Autumnal Equinox occurred at 2:50 this morning.

It is going to be a pleasant first day of fall with plenty of sunshine and high temperatures in the 70s.

Tonight will be mostly clear with lows dropping into the 50s. As we head into Tuesday, a southerly wind will help boost temperatures into the upper 70s and lower 80s. It will be a bit more humid as well with dew points in the 50s.

Sunshine is expected throughout the day Tuesday. A cold front tracks in Tuesday night bringing the potential for showers and thunderstorms. These are expected to be scattered across the area.

There is a slight risk of a few severe thunderstorms in eastern Iowa. Damaging wind and large hail would be the primary threat, although a tornado cannot be ruled out (the better chance would be to our northwest).

A few showers may linger into Wednesday morning, otherwise dry conditions are expected through Thursday evening.

There is another chance of showers and thunderstorms Friday.
