TRACKING: Heat, Humidity, and Storm Chances

Remaining Ad Time Ad - 00:00

Cloud cover has been streaming through this morning but we haven’t seen many rain showers from them. Temperatures as of 10:50 are already near 80 degrees.

Another warm and humid afternoon is forecast with highs in the upper 80’s to the lower 90’s. Uncomfortable humidity will bring the heat index to around 95 degrees.

A pop up afternoon storm will again be possible in parts of northern Iowa this afternoon but chances seem lower than yesterday.

Otherwise, skies will stay partly cloudy to mostly clear tonight with lows in the upper 60’s. Humidity will stick around.

Expect a little less sunshine on Tuesday with partly sunny skies. Some more solid storm chances will return by Tuesday afternoon. Right now the chance is around 20%. Any storms that develop could limit our afternoon heating and would leave high temperatures in the upper 80’s north to around 90 south. Humidity of course will still keep the heat index between 90 and 95 degrees for most.

A ridge of heat will build into the area from Wednesday through Saturday. We could see our high temperatures in the middle 90’s with heat indices between 100 to 105. Lows will only fall to the middle 70’s. This will be a dangerous stretch of heat.

Besides Tuesday and Wednesday, we look to remain dry with partly cloudy skies into the end of the week.
