TRACKING: Extended Period of High Heat and Humidity

Remaining Ad Time Ad - 00:00

First things first: a cluster of storms capable of producing small hail, gusty winds, and heavy rain are moving through the northern half of the viewing area. They are moving east at about 40 mph with some light to moderate rain behind it.

The storms will continue to roll through the morning north of highway 20 with some sun elsewhere. By the afternoon most will be under partly cloudy skies.

Unfortunately, the storms will fail to scour out the heat and humidity of today as we clear the clouds out for the afternoon to partly cloudy conditions. Highs today will range from the middle 80’s north to the lower 90’s south. Heat indices will range from 90 to 100 degrees.

We will have another small chance for showers and storms tonight mainly to the north and east. Lows remain near 70 with humid conditions.

There really isn’t any relief from the heat in the foreseeable future with humidity remaining in the uncomfortable category into the work week.

This will be a dangerous stretch of heat and humidity with heat indices between 90 and 105 over the next 5 days. Stay cool and hydrated. Water is your friend.

Not only will it be hot and humid but we don’t have many rain chances to cool things off. Skies will remain partly cloudy for most of the week with a small chance for storms on Wednesday.
