TRACKING: Storm chances and Hot/Humid Conditions

Remaining Ad Time Ad - 00:00

It is a warmer afternoon with temperatures getting closer to 90 degrees compared to Thursday. The humidity level is about the same as yesterday. Sunshine is across most of the state except for an isolated storm in northwest Iowa.

The storm in NW Iowa are forecast to fall apart. There will be some cloud cover moving in our direction and it will thin out as it does so. The sky is mostly clear tonight and will be warm and humid with lows near 70.

A weak cold front will drift south into Iowa Saturday with a chance of afternoon showers/storms. The threat for any severe weather is low. Any storms can produce locally heavy rain, hail and gusty winds.

The humidity level will be in the uncomfortable range Saturday through all of next week.

Other than a chance of showers/storms Saturday, it looks like the weather will be dry through next week. Hot and humid conditions will dominate the weather story.

The Climate Prediction Center long range outlook keeps temperatures above normal and precipitation chances below normal.
