The heat is on! Temperatures this afternoon will be a bit warmer than yesterday and it will be a little more humid. Highs will be in the middle 80s to near 90° with a southwest wind 5-10 mph.
A weak cold front will track into northern Iowa late tonight into Saturday morning. This is not a very strong cold front, but there may be some showers and thunderstorms that develop to our northwest, and track into northern Iowa into Saturday morning.
There’s still some question as to the coverage of storms tomorrow morning, but areas north of Waterloo and Dubuque will have the best chance to see the rain. That front lingers into the afternoon hours, and could produce an isolated shower or thunderstorm. Otherwise Saturday will be partly cloudy, hot and humid with highs in the middle 80s to lower 90s.
Temperatures will be in the upper 80s to lower (perhaps mid-90s) throughout much of next week. There are some chances for storms overnight Tuesday into Wednesday, and then again Wednesday night. It will continue to be quite muggy over the next several days.
Stay safe and stay hydrated in this summer heat.
