TRACKING: Hot and humid conditions

There are a few clouds across southern Iowa otherwise it is sunny. Temperatures are in the upper 70s and low 80s across the state.

We are going to have a quiet night under a clear sky. Temperatures drop to near 60 by Friday morning.

Friday is going to be warmer with a gentle south wind. The humidity level will increase slightly in the afternoon. The humidity continues to increase Friday night and will be humid to uncomfortable Saturday through next week.

A weak front will drift south to Iowa Friday night into Saturday morning with a slight chance for showers/storms. Other than this chance, dry weather is expected through next week. The big weather story is hot and humid conditions.

The extended outlook, from the Climate Prediction Center, continues above normal temperatures and below normal precipitation.
