TRACKING: Rain and storms for Wednesday-Thursday

Remaining Ad Time Ad - 00:00

The sky is mostly cloudy tonight with a small chance of a stray shower/storm possible overnight. Most locations will be dry as temperatures drop into the 40s by morning.

The gusty wind diminishes this evening and becomes light overnight. The light wind continues through Tuesday.

The chance of rain and a few storms increases Tuesday night into Wednesday. Right now there is a slight risk severe storms across our southern counties (Iowa City and south) for Wednesday afternoon. Hail, and high winds would be the primary threat. Isolated tornado is not ruled out. We will have a better handle how this will play out as we get closer.

We are on the backside of the low pressure system Thursday with a gusty northwest wind. Rain chances continue through the day as temperatures drop into the 50s. A gusty north and northwest wind will be around Thursday and Friday.

Eastern Iowa rain totals are forecast to be around 1-2” between Wednesday and Thursday combined.
