A WINTER STORM WARNING is in effect through Tuesday evening for all of eastern Iowa.
Some sleet/freezing rain could be mixed in with the snow south of I-80 during evening. Snow continues through the night and will be heavy at times. Snow rates could be as high as 1” per hour at times.
Snow continues Tuesday morning and becomes light by mid to late morning. A few snow showers are still possible into the afternoon. Most of the accumulating snow will end by noon. Snow totals will range from 5-10”. Isolated higher amounts are possible for northeast Iowa and southwest Wisconsin.
Wind gusts to 40 mph from the northwest will causing blowing snow and make travel hazardous during the afternoon. The gusty wind continues into the night as temperatures drop into the single digits.
Sunshine returns Wednesday as the wind becomes lighter from the southwest. Clouds move back in Thursday with a chance of light snow Friday. It is colder Saturday through Monday with highs in the teens and at this point dry.
