SURVEY_SUMMARY: THE TORNADO BEGAN ABOUT 1/2 MILE WEST-SOUTHWEST OF THE FLOYD COUNTY
FAIRGROUNDS. THE TORNADO HEAVILY DAMAGED MANY OUTBUILDINGS ON THE FAIRGROUNDS AS
IT MOVED NORTHEAST,BUT MISSED THE CITY. THE FAIRGROUNDS SUSTAINED HIGH-END EF-1 
DAMAGE. THE TORNADO CONTINUED NORTHEAST PRODUCING HIGH-END EF-1 DAMAGE FOR ANOTHER 
3-4 MILES BEFORE WEAKENING TO EF-0 INTENSITY. THE DAMAGE PATH ENDED ABOUT 7 MILES 
NORTH OF CHARLES CITY.

SURVEY SUMMARY: A STRONG TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN NORTHEAST OF CANTRIL 
AND CONTINUED EAST ALONG A 17 MILE PATH FOR ABOUT 7.5 MILES. THE 
TORNADO WAS 100 YARDS ITS WIDEST. A HUNTING CABIN AND A HOUSE 
WERE DESTROYED EARLY IN IT'S PATH. DAMAGE TO THE HOUSE WAS ESTIMATED 
TO BE CAUSED BY 140 MPH WINDS. AS THE TORNADO MOVED EAST, OUTBUILDINGS
AND TREES WERE DOWNED.

STRIKING A METAL BUILDING. THE ROOF WAS REMOVED FROM THE BUILDING
AND WINDS WERE ESTIMATED AT 100 MPH.
