ST. LOUIS (KWWL) — Wyatt Lohaus drove the length of the court and scored with 2.1 seconds left as UNI stunned Drake 60-58 in the semifinal of the Missouri Valley Conference tournament.
The late heroics capped a monster day for the Panther senior. Lohaus scored a game high 27 points in the win that has UNI now sitting a single victory away from the NCAA tournament.
Drake tied the game at 58 apiece on an inside bucket from Tremell Murphy with just over eight seconds remaining. With no timeouts left, Lohaus immediately took the in bounds pass, drove the length of the floor, and just slipped his layup attempt past the arms of Anthony Murphy who was defending the play. A last second desperation attempt by the Bulldogs clanked harmlessly off the iron.
UNI will face Bradley in the tournament final at 1 PM on Sunday. The Panthers are in the final for the seventh time. They’ve won in their last five championship appearances.
