UNI wrestlers dominate Oklahoma 28-9

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) — The 16th ranked UNI wrestling team remained perfect in Big 12 duals with a 28-9 win over Oklahoma on Sunday afternoon. The 19 point victory marked the Panthers’ largest over the Sooners in 68 years.

UNI 125-pounder Jay Schwarm opened the meet with a second period pin against Christian Moody. The win by fall was his second of the weekend and 29th of his career which moved him to number ten on UNI’s all-time list.

Josh Alber prevailed for the Panthers in the only top-10 match-up on the card. Alber, ranked sixth at 141 pounds, used a third period takedown to get past tenth ranked Dom Demas. The win extended Alber’s win streak to 12-straight this season.
