ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KWWL) — Riley LeGrand smashed a two-run bomb in the bottom of the ninth as 15th ranked Coe rallied past no. 3 Washington University 4-3 in Saturday’s regional final.
The win moved the Kohawks into a Super Regional match-up against Birmingham-Southern. The winner of the best of three series will move to the Division III World Series in Cedar Rapids.
LeGrand’s heroics came with Coe down to their final out in the top of ninth inning with the Kohawks trailing 3-2. TJ Johnson allowed two base runners in the bottom of the inning, but got the final two batters to fly out to end the game.
Zach Kammin picked up the win pitching three late scoreless innings while striking out three batters.
