WAVERLY (KWWL) — The sixth ranked Waverly-Shell Rock girls topped no. 4 Spencer 2-0 on Saturday to capture the ‘A-Bracket’ title at their own tournament. The Go-Hawks out-scored their three opponents 17-1 over the course of the day.

Sophomore Kenzie Roling tracked down a long ball in the first half, dribbled in, and scored for a 1-0 halftime lead. Roling later assisted on an insurance goal in the second half, finding teammate Siri Ott to put the game away and pick up W-SR’s ninth win of the season.

The Union Knights, ranked third in class 1A, nearly pulled off a huge comeback in the ‘B-Bracket’ final. The Knights trailed 3-0 behind fourth ranked 2A squad ADM, but managed to get a pair back before falling 3-2 in the end.
