WATERLOO (KWWL) — Sioux Falls scored five times in the final 20 minutes as the Stampede rallied from a two-goal deficit to knock off the Waterloo Black Hawks 5-2 in Young Arena. The win snapped Waterloo’s league best eight game winning streak.

The Black Hawks seemed to have everything in order fhrough the first two periods. Matej Blumel tied the league lead with his 25th goal on a rebound in the first period. Connor Caponi added another in the first to put Waterloo well in control, especially with Logan Stein looking flawless in goal. Stein stopped all 20 Sioux Falls’ shots through 40 minutes.

That ended in the third. Cade Borchardt’s power play goal nine minutes in to the period busted up the shutout. The Stampede then took the lead with a pair of goals in a two minute span as Borchardt got his second while Artem Ivanyuzhenkov  added the go-ahead tally. A pair of empty netters in the final moments put the game away.
