Iowa State women hammer Kansas State in Big 12 opener

Bridget Carleton scored 26 and the Iowa State Cyclones drilled 16 3-pointers as they opened conference play with a 96-58 win over Kansas State. The 38-point margin of victory is the largest in the series between the Cyclones and Wildcats.

Kansas State opened the game strong, leading by as much as seven after knocking down nine straight field goal attempts. Iowa State quickly turned the momentume with an 11-0 run. Ashley Joens hit all four of her first half three-point attempts as the Cyclones led 46-34 at half.

They put the game away in the final quarter with a 15-0 run as ISU outscored the Wildcats 31-14 in the last stanza to put the game on ice.

Kristin Scott added 19 points and 10 rebounds to go along with Carleton’s 26-point effort.
