AMES (KWWL) — Devon Moore has left the Iowa State football program and will look at transfer options. The former Waterloo West quarterback was Matt Campbell’s first official commitment when he was hired in 2015.

The redshirt freshman suffered a major setback, however, due to a torn ACL during his first season that eventually dropped him behind four other quarterbacks on the Cyclones’ depth chart.

Moore’s father, Waterloo West head coach Lonnie Moore, confirmed that he’s in the initial stages of transferring and has had contact with a small number of potential schools.

In 2016, Moore led Waterloo West to an 8-2 record when he completed better than 60 percent of his passes for 2,331 yards.
