IOWA CITY (KWWL) — The late rally fell just short as the Iowa Hawkeyes couldn’t complete the sweep after a 3-2 loss to rival Nebraska on Sunday. The Hawks still won two out of three on the weekend and captured their fourth straight Big Ten series.

A seventh inning throwing error turned out to be costly as it allowed Nebraska to score a pair of unearned runs in the one-run loss. Iowa began a rally in the bottom half of the inning trailing 3-0 as Connor McCaffery belted his first home run, a solo shot to pull within two runs of the Huskers. Izaya Fullard followed with an RBI base hit in the eighth inning to make it a one run game, however they were unable to complete the rally.

The Hawkeyes host UW-Milwaukee on Tuesday.
