Hawkeyes earn a 10 seed in the Big Dance

IOWA CITY (KWWL) – The Iowa Hawkeyes are headed to the NCAA tournament. Iowa picked up a 10 seed and will play 7th seeded Cincinnati in Columbus, Ohio, in the first round. The selection marks the fourth time in the past six years the Hawks have reached the tournament.

The 22-11 Hawkeyes finished sixth in the Big Ten standings, but struggled down the stretch, falling in five of their last six games. Michigan knocked the Hawks out of the Big Ten tournament in Friday’s quarterfinals with a 74-53 win.

In their last NCAA appearance, Iowa defeated Temple in the 2016 first round before falling to eventual national champion Villanova two days later.
