Megan Gustafson put together one of the top seasons in Iowa basketball history. The nation noticed. The Iowa senior was unanimously named national player of the year by espnW on Friday. It’s the first of likely many honors for Gustafson who is a finalist for multiple awards.
Gustafson leads the country in scoring (28 ppg) and field goal percentage (69.6). She averages better than 13 rebounds per game which ranks in the top five.
Her next opportunity to take the floor is likely to come at home in the NCAA tournament. The Hawkeyes are projected as a 2 seed when selection Monday rolls around in three days.
