Cedar Falls (KWWL) – The Bettendorf Bulldogs combined a strong running game with key defensive plays to top Cedar Falls 24-14 to advance to the 4A state semifinals. The Bulldogs relied on the legs of Class 4A’s leading rusher Harrison Bey-Buie to help propel them past the Tigers.
Bey-Buie started the scoring on the first play of the 2nd quarter with a 1-yard TD run. After a Cedar Falls punt, another 1 yard TD run by Bey-Buie put Bettendorf ahead 14-0. A Ryan Ostrich 15-yard TD run cut the score to 14-6. The two teams traded touchdowns in the 3rd quarter as the Bulldogs took a 21-14 lead into the 4th quarter. Reed Shea kicked a 32-yard field goal to put the Bulldogs up 24-14. The Tigers could not answer that score. They complete the season with a 10-1 record. Bettendorf will return to the UNI-Dome next week as the Bulldogs take on top ranked West Des Moines Valley.
