Hawkeye Basketball Media Day

IOWA CITY(KWWL)–“Coming to Iowa City has been, a little in the makings for me.”
THERE’S A FEW NEW FACES THIS YEAR IN THE IOWA LOCKER ROOM, TWO OF THEM CAME PRETTY FAR.
GRADUATE TRANSFER BAKARI EVELYN IS NOW AT HIS *THIRD UNIVERSITY.
“To finally be here, lets everything come full-circle.”
THERE’S JUST AS MUCH BUZZ AROUND FRESHMAN JOE TOUSSAINT FROM BRONX NEW YORK.
“I mean, it’s a big culture shock but I’m having fun out here you know. I’m here to take care of business.”
THEY MAY HAVE TO STEP UP THIS YEAR AS IOWA SENIOR AND ALL-TIME THREE POINT LEADER JORDAN BOHANNON CONTINUES HIS RECOVERY FROM HIP SURGERY.
TOUSSAINT SAYS HE’S ALREADY LEARNING FROM HIM, THOUGH.
Joe Toussaint
Iowa Freshman Guard
“I talk to ‘J-Bo’ a lot, he helps me through everything to be honest with you, when I have a question I just go up to him.”
Jordan Bohannon
Iowa Senior Guard
“I can kind of use my experience and my expertise to try and help them out as much as possible throughout the year. Because, I’ve had a lot of experience under my belt the last three years, and I have a lot of things I can help them out with.”
WHILE EVELYN WASN’T AROUND FOR THE HAWKEYES’ 23 WINS LAST YEAR, HE SAW THEIR GRIT.
“This group was a group that fights.”
AND TAKES THAT AS A SIGN HE’S IN THE RIGHT PLACE.
Bakari Evelyn
Iowa Redshirt Senior Guard
“I think that’s kind of how my journey has been, definitely been a lot of adversity but I feel like I’ve fought and perservered through it. So I think I fit right in with the culture and the niche of the team.”
