Iowa State redshirt freshman Cameron Lard is facing a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. The charge, first reported by the Ames Tribune, stems from a traffic stop in February according to online court records. The chard is a considered a simple misdemeanor under Iowa law.
Ames Police stopped Lard for speeding on February 4. During the stop they subsequently found a glass pipe containing residue on the passenger side console of his car.
A jury trial is scheduled for May 8 in Story County.
Lard played in every Iowa State contest after February 4, and it’s unclear when team personnel found out about the charge. No one associated the team has yet to comment.
