SUMNER, Iowa (KWWL) – Police confirm they’re on scene of a major accident in Sumner.

Witnesses report seeing a crop duster plane crash on Main St., near the Dollar General.

Authorities haven’t said if/how many people are injured.

UPDATE: Bremer County Emergency Management confirms a crop duster crashed near a Dollar General this morning in Sumner.

They also confirm the pilot has serious injuries.

Multiple viewers have told us part of the town is without power. Witnesses tell us a wheel flew off the crop duster, and into a bank.

UPDATE: Authorities confirm the pilot of the crop duster is dead.

The pilot clipped a number of power lines on his way down. The crop duster didn’t crash into any buildings.

Witnesses at a nearby business say they saw a large “fireball” immediately following the crash.


UPDATE: Authorities have confirmed the pilot of the plane was David Baker, 56, of Swedesburg, Iowa.
