Lowell Elementary teacher wins first ‘Tools for Schools’ award this school year

WATERLOO, Iowa (KWWL) – A first-grade teacher in Waterloo wins $ 500.00 for the first ‘Cedar Valley Tools for Schools’ award this school year.

Julie Fenton teaches at Lowell Elementary. She’s using the money to buy special microphones, called ‘Qballs.’ They’ll help with class discussions and allow her students to be heard.

“So, this Qball will allow us to, um, you can throw it across the room,” she said. “You can kick it across the room, but it’s a microphone so all those small voices are going to be heard.”

The ‘Cedar Valley Tools for Schools’ program is a partnership between KWWL and Green State Credit Union.
