Decorah to clean up code regarding solar panels

DECORAH, Iowa (KWWL) — The Decorah Planning and Zoning Commission is encouraging the city council to vote to improve the language in the City Code of Ordinances about solar panels.

Chad Bird, Decorah City Manager, said the current code has language explicitly allowing the use and installation of solar panels, but is silent in other sections.

The code revision would reflect that solar panels are permitted for use in all zones within the city.

If approved, it opens the city up for grants from the U.S. Department of Energy.
