Firefighter killed while riding bike, police searching for driver who left crash scene

IOWA CITY PRESS-CITIZEN – Authorities are searching for a driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run.

That’s according to a post from Iowa City Press-Citizen.

The driver hit an Iowa firefighter while he was riding his bike early Monday morning in eastern Iowa.

A press release from the Muscatine Police Department said Devin Estabrook, 49, of Letts, was headed northbound around 4:50 a.m. on U.S. Highway 61 near 41st Street South in Muscatine when a vehicle going the same direction hit him, then drove away from the scene.

Estabrook was taken to a hospital in Illinois where he was later pronounced dead.

He was a member of the Grandview Fire Department.
