Cubs star pitcher reaches out to Iowa softball player battling cancer

DES MOINES, (WHO) – An Iowa high school softball player batting cancer received a special note from a Major League Baseball Player.

According to WHO-TV, Humboldt High senior, Ashlyn Clark is playing softball games between chemo treatments at Mayo Clinic.

Monday, Clark hit her first career home run on Senior Night. Clark’s home run, catching the attention of Chicago Cubs pitcher, Jon Lester. Lester, a cancer survivor himself, invited Clark and her family to a Cubs game at Wrigley field.

Congratulations Ashlyn! How about you and your family come to Wrigley for a game to celebrate! And if its not too much to ask, maybe you could sign a ball for me? #NVRQT
