UPDATE: Muscatine fire victim in stable condition

MUSCATINE, Iowa (KWWL) – An apartment building is damaged following a late-night fire in Muscatine.

Fire crews were called to 403 West 4th Street to a multiple unit apartment building for a kitchen fire in one of the units. It happened just before midnight Thursday. Upon arrival, firefighters could see flames in the second floor.

The fire was quickly extinguished, but there was fire damaged throughout the until and some water and smoke damage to the rest of the building.

One person was injured in the fire and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. They are said to be in stable condition.

The estimated damage is estimated to be around $7,500.

The American Red Cross is assisting the residents of the building.

UPDATE: The Muscatine Fire Department has released a statement saying that the victim is in stable condition. No injures for emergency crews.

The Muscatine Police Department provided help for the Muscatine Fire Department. About 11 firefighters were at the scene including off duty employees.
