BLACK HAWK COUNTY, Iowa (KWWL) — Before another winter storm hits, Sheriff Tony Thompson is urging people to take caution while driving on the roads.

The Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office says they have been inundated with accidents over the last few weeks, and many of these accidents have been preventable. Most are attributable to excessive speed when considering weather and road conditions.

Sheriff Thompson says, “Our best advice is not to travel when the road conditions deteriorate, if you must travel, we really need motorists to slow down.”

Above is video from a crash that happened Sunday on I-380 near Raymond were a car went into a ditch. Another vehicle lost control and narrowly missed one patrol car, but then hit another patrol car. Police say fortunately, the deputy was out of his car and was not injured. The driver wasn’t injured either.
