WASHINGTON D.C. (KWWL) — Congress has until Friday to reach a funding deal or risk slipping into another government shutdown.
KWWL caught up with Senator Chuck Grassley to talk about the most recent shutdown.
“I’ve learned a lesson. I hate to tell you this, but in 1995 I thought a shutdown was a good thing to do to accomplish what you wanted to do. I learned a tough lesson. It costs money to shut down government. It costs money to open up government,” said Senator Grassley.
Grassley said they failed to accomplish what they wanted to with shutting down the government.
He called for good-faith compromise between Republicans and Democrats to reach a deal before February 15.
