IOWA CITY, Iowa (KWWL) – Due to the snow covering much of eastern Iowa an event for kids with cancer almost didn’t happen, but thanks to the kindness of several Iowans it went off without a hitch.

“We are so so grateful for the love that’s been shared in Iowa,” said Jamie Holmes, the founder of Jamie’s Dream Team, a group whose goal is to help as many sick kids as possible.
So when entertainers canceled last minute due to weather, they feared if this dream would fall short.
Until hotel staff stepped in.

“The hotel staff just outstandingly stepped up. We got costumes and a face painter and were able to help out the dream team continue on their quest,” said Karin Stigle, the Assistant General Manager at Hyatt Place in Iowa City.

While the party was made possible by the hotel, dreams like christmas presents and trips to disney were made possible by one northern Iowa woman.

“We decided that this was our year to give back,” said Jolyn Noethe.

From grandparents to grandkids, Noethe’s entire family forgoed their gifts to give back.

“The things we go through our nothing compared to what these families go through and the fact that we are able to put ourselves a side and help other people where they didn’t have to worry about things it just humbles you it just completely humbles you,” sais Noethe.

Still, she says none of this would be possible without holmes.

“I hope our organization gives them a little bit of happiness, it can go a long way. And a little bit of love can go a long way,” said Holmes.

The dream team has helped children in 22 states across the US, making more than three thousand dreams come true.
