WATERLOO, Iowa (KWWL) – Waterloo Police say that crime remained fairly stable in 2018, dropping almost 2% from the year before.
Police Chief Dan Trelka said in a statement that more serious offenses slightly increased and that was due to more fraud and acts of violence between gang members.
“The increase was offset by a significant drop in less serious crimes such as non-violent family offenses and public intoxication. These latest statistics show that Waterloo’s overall crime rate continues to trend down,” said Trelka in that same statement.

There were a total 11,294 offenses listed in the report, down 1.79% from 2017.
