NEW DETAILS: Waterloo house fire started near Christmas decorations; exact cause still unknown

Waterloo firefighters confirm the fire started near Christmas decorations outside the house. Crews are still investigating the exact cause.

According to a press release, the resident was in the office of the home, and heard a noise. When the resident went to check further, that’s when the fire was found outside of the home.

Firefighters estimate the damage at about $70,000.

Waterloo firefighters were called to an overnight house fire.

The fire department said they responded around 1 a.m. Wednesday, to 3810 Paige Drive.

Fire crews said the front of the home was on fire when they arrived on scene, then the flames spread to the attic.

Everyone got out of the home safely, fire crews confirmed. The fire marshal will be on scene this morning to investigate the cause.
