Free HIV testing in Linn Co for World AIDS Day

LINN COUNTY, Iowa (KWWL) — Free HIV screening is being offered by the Linn County Public Health Department in honor of World AIDS Day.

HIV screening requires a finger pike and the results are ready within minutes.

The free screening is being offered today, November 30th from 12:00 pm to 3:30 pm.

According to a press release more than 3,000 Iowans are affected by HIV. However, they estimate that about 400 of them do not even know because they have never been tested.

There will also by HIV screening available on Saturday, December 1st from 9:00 pm to 11:00 pm at 3916 1st Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids, thanks to a partnership with Belle’s Basix.

World AIDS Day was founded in 1988 and was the first ever global health day.

LCPH is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm at 501 13th Street NW, Cedar Rapids.
