Iowa City shooting leaves two people injured, police searching for suspect

IOWA CITY- Iowa (KWWL) Two people were injured after a shooting overnight in Iowa City.

Just before 2 a.m. Saturday, the Iowa City Police Department received a report of shots fired near the intersection of East Court and South Gilbert.

On scene, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. That victim was transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals, where he received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

A short time later, a second person with a gunshot wound was discovered about one block away from the original location.

Police say it appears that both shootings occurred at the same location listed above. The second male victim was also transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A Hawk Alert was sent out to University of Iowa students and parents around 2 a.m. describing the suspect as a female with dreads wearing blue clothes.

The investigation into the shootings continues and the Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000 for information leading to the arrest of the suspects. Anyone with information about this crime is urged to contact CrimeStoppers at 358-TIPS (8477). All calls are held in strict confidence and anonymity is guaranteed. Individuals providing information do not have to reveal their identity to collect a reward.
