(KWWL) – Congresswoman Abby Finkenauer has been appointed to serve as an Assistant Whip for the 116th Congress.

KWWL talked with her today about her time in Washington and what it could mean for Iowans.

The congresswoman talked about big issues for Iowans, including the state’s roads and bridges.

“The subcommittees that I’ve ended up on, transportation and infrastructure show up in such a big way in this district. In particular in Iowa we actually have the most structurally deficient bridges in the entire country. It is imperative that we actually have investments going to our state,”said Finkenauer.

Congresswoman Finkenauer is returning to Iowa this weekend for her event “Conversations With Your Congresswoman.”

She will be in Vinton and Grinnell on Saturday.
