UPDATE: Name of drowning victim has been released

IOWA CITY, Iowa. (KWWL) – One person is dead after an alleged drowning in Iowa City.

That’s according to the Iowa City Press-Citizen.

Emergency crews were called to Terry Trueblood Recreation Area lake around 4 p.m. Friday for a water rescue.

First responders searched the lake for about an hour before finding the victim’s body.

Another person who went into the lake trying to save the victim was taken to a hospital.

UPDATE:

Authorities say the individual who drowned was Eric Mutarika, 22.

The incident is still under investigation.
