No trash collection in Iowa City on Thursday

IOWA CITY, Iowa (KWWL) – The City of Iowa City has announced that there will be no trash, recycling or yard waste collection on Thursday, as city workers gather to honor the life of a longtime co-worker.

Thursday routes will instead be run on Friday, and customers are being asked to have any curbside materials out by 7 a.m. on Friday. Normal Friday customers could also see delays due to the added routes, according to city officials.

Thursday’s suspension will allow city workers to attend the funeral of Tim Burns, who served Iowa City for nearly 30 years and died over the weekend.
