Iowa City’s first Downtown District mayor to resign

IOWA CITY, Iowa (KWWL) — The Iowa City Downtown District’s first Nighttime Mayor Angela Winnike, will be resigning from her post this month to pursue other opportunities in California.

According to a press release from the Iowa City Downtown District, Winnike was first hired in April of 2017 and has worked to support the entertainment, hospitality, food and beverage industries downtown.

She has worked tirelessly to strengthen relationships with nightlife businesses, the City and University, as well as foster initiatives to improve safety, cleanliness, and accessibility of downtown.
