Indiana faces icy weather, winds, flooding, power outages

HAMMOND, Ind. (AP) — Parts of Indiana are facing icy conditions, potentially damaging winds, flooding and weather-related power outages.

Northern Indiana is under ice storm warnings or winter weather advisories Tuesday, while the middle of the state is bracing for high winds. Flooding was reported in central and southern Indiana, including along the White and Wabash rivers.

Indiana Michigan Power says more than 18,000 of its Indiana customers lost power. More than 9,000 NIPSCO customers lost power.

The ice storm warning prompted officials Tuesday to suspend train service on the South Shore Line in northwest Indiana.

On Monday, an Indiana man and his two daughters died after his car slid into a river from a snow-covered road. And no one was injured when a small plane slid on a snowy runway at Richmond Municipal Airport.
