Dubuque receives grant for flood mitigation project

DUBUQUE, Iowa (KWWL) – The U.S. Economic Development Administration awarded the City of Dubuque $2.5 million for the Bee Branch Watershed Food Mitigation project.

The $10.3 million gate and pump station replacement project. It includes new and additional flood gates and pumps on the 16th Street detention basin side of the floodwall.

The two existing pumps are more than 50 years old. Those two pumps will be replaced and two additional pumps and a generator will be added.

The project will begin late next year and be functional by 2021.

The additional funding for the $10.3 million project comes from Flood Mitigation Program money from the state and the local storm water fee.
