Dubuque man guilty of second-degree murder in 2016 Bellevue killing

JACKSON COUNTY, Iowa (KWWL) – A Dubuque man has been found guilty of second-degree murder for the killing of a Bellevue man in 2016.

24-year-old Drew Mangler was on trial for the first-degree murder of 59-year-old James Remakel on December 19, 2016.  Remakel was stabbed and slashed 32 times.

But jurors found him guilty on the lesser charge, which carries a 50-year prison term.

Mangler will be sentenced March 22.
