Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office issues travel advisory

DUBUQUE COUNTY, Iowa. (KWWL) – The Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office issued a notice of Travel Not Advised on Dubuque County roadways.

Deputies say the combination of rain and below-freezing temperatures has created dangerous driving conditions. Dubuque Sheriff Joe Kennedy says they made the call this morning after speaking with the Dubuque County Highway Department.

“The county roads actually requested it because they were getting to a point where due to the temperature and the falling rain they were not able to keep up with salting the roads.”

Sheriff Kennedy says they were happy to do so as they want to keep everyone as safe as possible and limit the number of weather related accidents.

Dubuque County Sheriff’s Department released a notice stating that the road advisory has expired, but Sheriff Kennedy says people should still be cautious out on the roads tonight.
