Dubuque citizens receive scam phone calls from number impersonating Alliant Energy

DUBUQUE, Iowa (KWWL) — Dubuque Police Department say they received calls from citizens reporting they were called by a scam number claiming to be from Alliant Energy.

According to the Dubuque Police Department’s Facebook page, the caller instructs the recipient to call an 800 number which then connects the recipient to a fake Alliant Energy number. The caller then threatens recipients with service shut down if they do not comply.

Dubuque Police say if you receive one of these phone calls, hang up. They instruct recipients of this scam call to not give out personal or financial information to the caller.
