UPDATE: Authorities plan to resume the search for a missing boater in Linn County today.

On Sunday, authorities searched in and around the Cedar River in Palisades-Kepler State Park.

Authorities believe an adult male fell out of his boat and into the river.

His name hasn’t been released.

UPDATE: The Linn County Sheriff’s Office says they believe the missing boater is 59-year-old Ricky Lee Veenstra.

Witnesses reported that Veenstra went into the water from a boat just below the spillway in the Cedar River at Palisades Park and did not resurface.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources continue to search for the boater. They say the fast moving water in that area is making the search very difficult.
