CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KWWL) – The Cedar Rapids Fire Department says a fire most likely started in the kitchen of a home, but quickly spread to the basement and the second floor on Friday.
Crews were dispatched to a house in the 2100 block of Goblins Gully Drive Southeast just before 2:30 p.m. to find flames burning throughout the house. Traffic was blocked for a time in the area so that sand could be brought in to move firetrucks at the site.
A report on the fire says no one was inside nor hurt in the fire, but the house is heavily damaged — with flames, smoke and water damage throughout. The Salvation Army, Cedar Rapids Police, Area Ambulance Service, Alliant Energy and Cedar Rapids Streets crews all assisted at the scene.
