CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KWWL) — Police have charged two juvenile females in the destruction at Greene Square Park earlier this month with help from recently installed security cameras in that area.

On the morning of January 8, the Cedar Rapids Police Department found damage to eight 22″ plastic globes at Greene Square Park. The globes are part of a light feature in the park that illuminate the fountain in the evening. The total cost of damages were estimated to be $1200.

Police were able to identify the two juveniles in the video with help from two school resource officers. Both have been charged with Criminal Mischief.

The Greene Square security cameras were funded using money from the Automated Traffic Enforcement (ATE) program and were installed as part of a public safety improvement plan.
