Marion Fire Department to hold a live house burn

The Marion Fire Department will be conducting a live house burn in an effort to improve firefighting skills.

The training will take place on Saturday, October 6 at 880 2nd Street from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The Fire Department will be setting and extinguishing several fires inside the house and burning the structure to the ground. The Marion Fire Department will do their best to avoid smoke coming toward homes, but it is advisable that houses near 880 2nd Street should keep their windows and doors closed while the burn is in progress.

The Fire Department says that if the wind is too strong that day, the training will be rescheduled for Sunday, October 7, weather permitting.

If you are interested in watching the training, the Fire Department says there will be a designated area for spectators.
