WATERLOO, Iowa – While many cleaned up downed trees, branches and power lines yesterday, one Waterloo man has gained a lot of attention for what happened in his backyard.

That’s because a massive tree fell on his garage and vintage car. A picture shows Dean Halverson standing in front of the uprooted tree. You can see the roots towering above him.

It’s at the corner of Blowers and California Street. Halverson says,”All I could do was just keep looking at it. I called the wife over to the door and said well the tree just fell on the garage.”

It was what was inside the garage that meant a lot to Halverson. He says, “It was a sickly feeling, as soon as I saw it and realized everything that was happening.”

Fortunately, it looks like the vintage car is salvageable, but the garage was crushed.
