CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) – It was the battle of the returners and the re-builders. Ames High School taking a trip to the UNI-Dome for week one of high school football.

Cedar Falls, currently ranked second in Class 2A, have their eye on a return to the state championship game.

A key returner for the Tigers is Senior Quarterback Cael Loecher.

Loecher got the team going early on, driving down the field before Bo Grosse powered into the end zone through the middle of his O-Line.

Cedar Falls would double the score after two stellar plays by senior Ben Sernett. He first picked off the Ames quarterback, and on the ensuing drive caught a six yard touchdown pass to double Cedar Falls lead.

Ames would never really get the offense going. They were able to put three points on the board just before halftime.

The route continued in the second half; Cedar Falls scoring 25 unanswered points.

The Tigers would go on to win 39-3.
